WACHS WA Rural and Remote Mental Health Conference
October 2019 saw Albany host the 24th WA Rural and Remote Mental Health Conference which celebrated the theme "Moorditjabiny: Becoming Stronger".
We are grateful to Professor Geoff Riley for his ongoing support and presenting with the Alliance Against Depression team on the first day of the conference. The 1 hour session was titled 'ID and Treatment of Depression in Primary Care and Alliance Against Depression' and drew on the content in the GP Training video which is freely available for local Alliances to use. The 45 minute video qualifies for self-directed learning in a GPs professional development plan.
This conference is a key event for stakeholders who care about access to mental health services and the particular issues facing regional and remote communities. It provides an an opportunity for mental health professionals from across WA to participate in information sharing, training, upskilling and networking.
Very humbling to participate in this important conversation and we look forward to following what initiatives come out of our WA country regions.
