Purpose

The Goldfields Consumer Engagement page is designed to support and reinforce the community engagement activities currently being undertaken in this region, including the Northern Goldfields Interagency meeting and the Youth Forum meetings.

Through these meetings participating organisations are committed to facilitating joint initiatives that help strengthen the community and improve the coordination of services in the region. It is recognised that Community, Local, State and Non-Government organisations input into discussion topics and initiatives is essential for strengthening the community and improving service coordination.

Objective

This page will give members of the community the opportunity to converse, share ideas and opinions, and reach decisions on pressing matters that may fall outside of the timelines of meetings, as well as receive regular updates from participating organisations. This page supports meeting documents, highlights relevant news items and upcoming events and show cases good new stories..

    Body Esteem Educator Training Kalgoorlie,WA - Thursday, 26th March 2020

    Professional development, focused on supporting body confidence and healthy relationships with food and exercise in young people

      Please note, this is not clinically focused training about eating disorders.


    Evidence based & prevention focused; addressing risk & protective factors underpinning the development of negative body image, disordered eating and eating disorders. This session provides a great mix between contextual information, experiential learning and professional discussion.

    Suitable for teachers, youth workers, health & community professionals working with young people of all genders aged 8 to 18.

    You will explore:

    • The spectrum of behaviours from healthy, unhealthy to disordered
    • Latest statistics on body image in males and females
    • Evidence based approaches to prevention
    • The importance of healthy body-esteem and knowledge of modifiable risk and protective factors.
    • How to foster a body positive environment through education, awareness and policy.
    • A selection of activities and resources to support body esteem.
    • Early Intervention - what to do if you suspect a young person is at risk.

    Includes: Dove Self-Esteem project materials and Butterfly's Free to Be resource.

    Australian Government funding has allowed for this event to be fully subsidised, there will be no charge incurred to attend the workshop.
