    GORD, starting, stepping down and stopping - Helen Brown, NPS

    • Distinguish between GORD and other conditions when patients present with reflux symptoms
    • Develop a plan for each patient with GORD who is starting a PPI that considers lifestyle modifications and stepping down or stopping of PPI at review
    • Explain the balance of benefits and risks of ongoing treatment for GORD
    • Discuss stepping down or stopping PPIs with GORD patients whose symptoms are adequately controlled
    • Discuss systems in your practice and prioritise areas for improvement in the management of patients prescribed PPIs for GORD.
