    An invitation to medical, nursing and allied health professionals

    Rural Health West convened a workshop last year in the Goldfields to develop strategies to address workforce shortages in Kalgoorlie- Boulder and surrounding communities. As a result, the Goldfields Regional Health Professionals Network (GOHPN) was established. The role and the implementation of the GOHPN have been funded by contributions from participating agencies to formalise the collaboration between Rural Health West, WA Primary Health Alliance, The Rural Clinical School of Western Australia, WA General Practice Education and Training, WA Country Health Service, 360 Health + Community and the Goldfields-Esperance GP Network to address the issues currently facing the Goldfields.

    Health and Wellbeing PitStop - Esperance

    Despite the inclement weather, Amity Health, Hope Community Service, Centrecare, Bay of Isles Community Outreach (BOICO), Escare, LifeSPAN and WA Primary Health Alliance along with the Esperance Alcohol and other Drug Harm Reduction Group hosted the Health and Wellness PitStop at the Bunnings on Friday 28th June 2018. Supporting the health and wellbeing of men needs to be recognised as a whole-of-community issue. This should include a focus on promoting and facilitating men's healthy living and strengthening health and community service delivery to men.

    Expressions of Interest Open for Kalgoorlie LGBTIQ+ and Ally Co-Design Workshop

    Do you live in Kalgoorlie Boulder and identify as a person who is LGBTIQ+, or are you a family member, friend, loved one or ally to the LGBTIQ+ community?

    Be a part of a co-design workshop exploring ways to better connect rural and regional LGBTIQ+ communities across Western Australia.

    This co-design workshop will explore the needs of local LGTBIQ+ people and aim to identify initiatives that will better support and connect LGBTIQ+ people living in rural and regional communities.

    World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 15 June 2019

    World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) is commemorated each year on 15 June to highlight one of the worst manifestations of ageism and inequality in our society, Abuse of the Older Person. The Aboriginal communities and culture, WACHS uses the terminology abuse of the older person as opposed to elder abuse out of consideration for Aboriginal communities and culture.

    Abuse of the Older Person is global and includes physical, emotional, sexual and financial abuse and also neglect. In Western Australia abuse affects 1 in 20 older people, and will likely continue to increase if nothing is done.

    WA Primary Health Alliance is leading three Suicide Prevention Trials in Western Australia, located in the Kimberley, the Midwest and the Peel, Rockingham and Kwinana regions.
