WA Rural Health Conference 2020

In 2020, the Rural Health West Annual Conference will have a name change to the WA Rural Health Conference. The conference theme of Beyond 2020 | health innovations will focus on the future of health and how technology will affect the treatment of patients.


The conference will focus on the latest digital research, technology advances and how healthcare is transforming through information and technology. Delegates will share ideas and challenges with forward thinkers, whilst having the opportunity to network with colleagues.

Delegates will also be provided with clinical updates, case studies, small group discussions and workshops.

This year we look forward to expanding the conference and welcoming more rural nurses and midwives to the conference through travel support for these health professionals.

Toxicological Emergencies (TOX) - Albany

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

This Rural Health West CPD workshop, presented by leading specialists in their field, has been designed to offer practicing rural medical practitioners an update in toxicological emergencies.

This one day workshop stream covers general and specific topics related to poisoning and local toxicology, using an interactive tutorial format concentrating on small group discussions of case scenarios.

The workshop content includes:
• Understand the pathophysiology and clinical effects of common envenomation (snake, spider and marine).
• Improve ability to decide on patient disposition and appropriately stabilise patients for transport.
• Improve understanding of the appropriate use of first aid and investigations Identify and list common poisonings.
• Apply a systematic diagnostic approach in toxicological presentations to increase patient safety.

Eligibility: Priority will be given to currently practising medical practitioners within the region

Length: One day

Cost: GPS - $550.00 Nurses $350.00
The cost of this workshop is subsidised by WA Country Health Service through the Better Medical Care Initiative.

Accreditation: This workshop is pending accredited with RACGP and ACRRM.

Paediatric Emergencies and Clinical Healthcare Scenarios (PEaCHS) - Albany

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

This Rural Health West CPD workshop is a one day workshop in paediatric emergency scenarios and skills. It will give delegates real-life examples and the opportunity to manage sick or injured children in a safe environment.

The workshop content will include:
• Hands-on simulation: practise common scenarios and structured care
• Short presentations by experienced paediatric emergency physicians
• Comprehensive handbook of lecture materials and practical skills
• 'Resuscitation reminders' card for your ID badge clip

Eligibility: GP Obstetricians, ED doctors and GP's. Priority is given to those working in the local region.

Length: One Day 8.00am-5.00pm

Cost: $550 (incl GST)
The cost of this workshop is subsidised by WA Country Health Service through the Better Medical Care Initiative

Accreditation: This workshop is pending accredited with RACGP and ACRRM
