Cardiovascular disease in women
9 months agoA report released yesterday by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) shows that a leading cause of illness and death for women in Australia is cardiovascular disease - heart failure, stroke and coronary heart disease. These conditions are largely preventable and treatable with support of the primary health sector.

9 months agoIn May's Better health, together video, WA Primary Health Alliance CEO, Learne Durrington chats to Chorus CEO, Dan Minchin about loneliness and the social connectedness pilot we have funded in the Mandurah area. The pilot will look into and address the barriers people have to accessing community services, with the aim of better linking primary and community care.

ECU Research Report: Better Together
11 months agoIn 2017-18 ECU mapped how the system of care network interacts in the cities of Joondalup and Wanneroo, in relation to perinatal and infant mental health needs of families with children under the age of four years. The report includes useful data on the demographics of the two cities and can be viewed here.

Mirrabooka Community Gets Guinness Book of Record
11 months agoOn 15 March 2019, Harmony Day, Mirrabooka Community with support from the City of Stirling hosted a Guinness Book of Record challenge for the most number of nationalities in a drumming circle. The record of 61 nationalities was held by a Canadian community and Mirrabooka now holds the world record of 77 nationalities. Watch a brief video here.
