  • Pilbara Regional Clinical Committee

    The Pilbara Regional Clinical Committee is one of seven local clinical advisory groups to both the Country Primary Health Network (PHN) and the WA Primary Health Alliance Board providing guidance on pathways, systems and service improvements intended to raise quality and deliver better health outcomes

    • Are GP led and comprise of GP’s, clinicians and other health professionals living and working in regional WA
    • The Country PHN’s ‘critical friends’, engaging with local clinical and health professionals to bring a clinical perspective to the PHN’s activities
    • Support the Country PHN to develop local strategies to improve the operation of the health care system for patients, facilitating effective primary health care provision to reduce avoidable hospital presentations.


    Clinical and health professional perspective ensure that the Country PHN’s activities are integrated, locally relevant, cost effective and efficient and align to the Needs Assessment and local and Commonwealth strategic priorities.

    The purpose of the PMHAODMG is to guide the scope and direction of collaborative activities and advocacy to address the needs of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Mental Health and AOD clients in the Pilbara region with a view to (i) improving access and frequency of services delivered to the region (ii) ensuring services that are delivered within the region meet the needs of the clients, are culturally secure and are not duplicated.

    The PMHAODMG includes representatives of organisations with a strong commitment to working collaboratively to improve mental health and wellbeing outcomes of Pilbara people and their communities.

    The PMHAODMG endorses and incorporates the following core values:

    • Recovery
    • Collaboration
    • The importance of population and primary health as well as access to tertiary care when needed to improve the health of the local population
    • Primary health care principles- early intervention, access, equity, person centered care, health promotion; and, strong interagency partnerships
    • The need to proactively work on implementing the priority recommendations identified in the Pilbara Aboriginal and non Aboriginal Mental Health & AOD Plan
    • Encourage self-help strategies
    • Encourage client, consumer and community voice

  • Pilbara Chronic Conditions Operations Group

    Pilbara Chronic Conditions Operations Group is a subsidiary forum working to implement a work program which has been developed through periodic stakeholder workshops and the strategic directions outlined by the WA Country Primary Health Network Pilbara Regional Clinical Committee and the Pilbara Aboriginal Health Planning Forum.


    The Pilbara Chronic Conditions Operations Group (PCCOG) includes individuals with a strong commitment and interest in working collaboratively to address the impact of chronic conditions on the people in the Pilbara Region and their communities.


    The PCCOG endorses and recognises the following:

    • The requirement to work in collaboration and form partnerships in alignment with current health reform initiatives for more effective, efficient and accessible service delivery.
    • The importance of population and primary health as well as access to acute health care when needed to improve the health of the local population.
    • Primary health care principles- early intervention, access, equity, reduction of disease burden, health promotion
    • The need to proactively work on implementing the priority recommendations identified in the Pilbara Aboriginal Health Plan and any other relevant strategic frameworks for the prevention and management of chronic conditions.
