Grow Local Expansion in Northam for 2019
What is Grow Local?
Grow Local is a free community training initiative, developed by WA Primary Health Alliance (WAPHA) in 2017 in response to difficulties in recruiting and retaining culturally appropriate mental health workers to support Aboriginal people.
WAPHA is now pleased to continue our partnership with the Australian Medical Association (AMA) to offer the CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health qualification free of charge to interested people living in Northam, Kalgoorlie, Albany, Bunbury, Carnarvon and Karratha.
This course is recommended for people who do not have formal mental health qualifications or who work in support, case work or mentoring roles in residential, home-based outreach or centre-based environments, or who want to support their community with culturally appropriate mental health support.
On completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Apply understanding of mental health issues and recovery processes.
- Conduct assessment and planning as part of the recovery process.
- Work effectively in mental health setitngs.
- Establish and maintain communication and relationships to support the recovery process.
Grow Local has an anticipated March 2019 start and a completion date of May 2020. Participants will be required to attend one, two day workshop per month.
Expressions of interest has now closed.
